• Who I Am

"Authenticity requires a certain measure of vulnerability, transparency, and integrity." ~ Janet Louis Stephenson

If you were to walk into my favorite local café to find me at one of the tables, you'd know a bit about me from a single glance. In the table in front of me, instead of a laptop, you'd see a composition book and a pen. Iced coffee? Yes. Enjoying the private concert streaming through my headphones, courtesy of my Amazon playlist? Yes.

This is my happy place, doing what I love doing. If you were watching me write in my composition book, you would know that I'm a bit old-fashioned when it comes to writing. It's not that I have anything against modern technology; I do use my computer to transcribe. My passion for writing is immense; for me, there's something pure and authentically artistic in writing as I did when I wrote my first story in a notebook at age 12.

If you were to join me at my table for a chat, you'd learn that I'm shy at first, but it doesn't take long for me to talk more, particularly when it comes to things I'm passionate about. I'd tell you that I'm not one for small talk; I prefer meaningful conversations. I'd tell you about growing up in New Orleans and how much I miss the way things used to be. I'd brag about my kiddos and jokingly tell you that I'm sure their ages are miscalculated ~ the can't possibly be 22 and 16, if I'm only 29 {with 21 years of experience}. You'd hear about how much I miss my mom, who passed away in March 2014 and what a great, positive person she was. I'd talk about my friends and how I consider them part of my family because they supported me through some trying times without complaint.

If you asked me about my Amazon playlist, I'd tell you that it consists of music spanning decades, mostly Classic Rock but I don't mind other genres, like classical, 80's "new wave", some current...anything but country, opera or anything too dark or angry. My favorite movies are indicative of the fact that I'm an incurable romantic who loves to laugh, be uplifted, inspired, entertained, but never scared.

Most likely we would sit for hours and chat about everything under the sun...and, if I had my way, by the end of our conversation...we would be friends.
